(EXPO) Cohesive EchoesJun 18 2024
I am very grateful for the chance to choose my own works and create the exhibition "Cohesive Echoes," which was on display in the Oosterkerk in Hoorn from June 18 to August 12. The exhibition features five complete works, including two pieces made up of three and four individual paintings.
The main focus of "Cohesive Echoes" is the use of dots, an element that has fascinated me lately. I find dots interesting because they are individual but can come together to create something bigger. This idea reminds me of how sand on a speaker forms patterns when music plays. Just like molecules that stand alone but join together to form the world around us, the dots in my work create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Guided by music, I shaped these images to show how I felt while listening to songs that bring to mind distant journeys and changing places. A word that captures this feeling is 'Fernweh,' a German term that describes the longing to leave and explore new places. This sense of yearning is present in my works, giving viewers a glimpse into my inner experience.
