Designing the first edition of ATÉ JÁ, Everyday a Little Adventure was an inspiring experience that allowed me to be involved from the initial concept all the way to the final product. Working with Joana Durães and collaborating closely with the XYZ team, we crafted the book and branding with a vision of capturing everyday charm and quirkiness.
This debut edition takes readers on a neighborhood walk through Los Angeles, brought to life by L.A.-based Italian photographer Francesca Forquet. Instead of focusing on Hollywood glitz, Francesca’s award-winning Santa Monica series captures hidden corners of the city—trash bins, front porches, windowsills, and license plates—uncovering the kitschy, symbolic beauty in ordinary spaces. Her images, selected and curated for this limited edition, highlight unexpected bursts of humor, irony, and playfulness in the everyday details that reveal the contradictions of modern American society.
Our goal in designing the book was to reflect Francesca’s unique perspective and create a narrative that invites readers to see familiar urban landscapes through a fresh lens. This experience was invaluable, and it was amazing to collaborate with everyone involved to bring this vision to life.
The first copies of ATÉ JÁ were showcased at the Polycopies book fair (2024)
